Plastic detectable material by the current metal detection systems

 

The key objective in the food industry is to supply products with the highest quality, safe and healthy. The manufacturers, besides giving guarantee of the quality along all the production, they must avoid the pollution of the finish product due to a breaking or wear of those pieces that are in contact with the food products. Traditionally this has been achieved by the use of metal detectors, although this forces that all those pieces made of metal.

The usage of detectable plastic materials by current metal detection systems allow the food industry, to ensure that the plastics used in their food product processing machines be detected in case of any falling debris due to the usage.

These materials are more shock and wear resistant than their corresponding counterparts not designed for this industry. Aside from having a different colour from any food product (blue, grey) the additives incorporated allow to detect very small pieces (from 3x3x3mm or larger), therefore:

  • Meat processing.
  • Milk bottling
  • Production of cheese.
  • Production of pasta products.
  • Manipulation of bread dough and other products.
  • Production of candies.
  • Filling / bottling.

 

2. Bottling and packing of food products

  • Applications for direct contact with food products.

 

ACETRON®MD – POM – blue

  • Good combination of strength and shock resistance for the applications where more dimensional stability is required.
  • Visual detection due to its blue colour and by metal detectors.
  • The detection by X-rays is also possible.
  • Temperature of continuous use up to 105°C.

  • Funnels
  • Guiders
  • Pliers
  • Pinions

 

NYLATRON®MD – PA6 – Dark blue

  • Great wear and fatigue resistance.
  • Lower humidity absorption that the standard polyamide (PA 6).
  • Visual detection due to its blue colour and by metal detectors.
  • The detection by X-rays is also possible.
  • Temperature of continuous use up to 85°C.

Applications:

  • Washers
  • Air-tightness joint
  • Rollers

 

TIVAR®MD – PE-UHMW – Dark grey

  • Economical solution for applications in which require a great shock resistance.
  • Acceptable dimensional stability: although it does not absorb humidity, it shows a high linear thermal expansion coefficient.
  • Good performance in cryogenic environments.
  • Excellent non-stick properties.
  • Not detectable through X-rays.

  • Chain guides
  • Funnels
  • Rollers
  • Bearings

 

KETRON®MD PEEK – PEEK – Dark grey

  • Used in applications where the high speed of the production line demands a great wear resistance or when the work temperatures are above 130°C.
  • For machine pieces that must be sterilised very often, mainly in machines that must be cleaned and/or sterilised within the same production line.
  • Suitable for machining pieces that must be in contact with food products and that require a great stiffness without adding reinforcements.
  • High dimensional stability for pieces of high precision.
  • Good relationship between stiffness and shock resistance.

  • Filling pistons
  • Manifolds
  • Valves
  • Scratchers in kilns and mixers at high temperatures.
  • Application with hot oil in fryers and ovens.
  • Washers
  • Guides
  • Bearings
